We are now designing and constructing a new experimental station with a multi-anvil apparatus for in-situ X-ray observation at the third generation synchrotron radiation facility at PETRA III Extension in DESY. As shown below, we installed a new 6-axis type multi-anvil press with 5-MN maximum ram load, named "LILA-5" in the Hall North of PETRA-III Extension under construction in September 2015.

After constructing the new experimental station, we will conduct various kinds of experiments such as determination of phase relations at much higher pressure than the conventional multi-anvil apparatus, study of rheological properties by X-ray methods, determination of equation of state by X-ray diffraction, and viscosity measurement by X-ray radiography.
